"In true portraiture no mere trappings can help in interpreting individuality. To confirm the spirit behind the eyes is the test." Above quote from: E.O. Hoppé, "Hundred Thousand Exposures"
Emil Otto Hoppé (1878-1972) is Michael Hoppé's grandfather, and the inspiration for Michael's four CD's: The Yearning, The Dreamer, The Poet and Beloved. Some of E. O. Hoppé's portraits are included with each CD. See their CD page for samples of Song Clips and Photos.
E. O. Hoppé's entry in "Who's Who" summed up his lifelong mission, "The recognition of photography as an art medium." Cecil Beaton called him The Master and wrote, "The photographs have managed to outlast fashion, one of the rare achievements of photographic history."
E. O. Hoppé was considered one of the most prominent photographers of the Edwardian Era.
